Afterschool Club Assistant Job Description

Purpose of Post
The role of the Afterschool Club Assistant:
• To provide professional day to day running and to deliver the highest standards of care and education to the Club and the children who attend
• To implement the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum
• To ensure that all children attending the Club are kept safe and receive rich and stimulating play experience which support all aspects and components of the EYFS curriculum
• To meet the requirements of regulatory bodies (OFSTED) and relation to EYFS matters, special needs, child protection, safeguarding, Health and Safety and to ensure that company policies and procedures are adhered to.

• Directors of Community Family Services Ltd
• Afterschool Manager
Key Responsibilities:
• Promote high standards of quality within the Club in respect of the environment, resources and experiences offered to children.
• Ensure that all children attending the Club receive rich and stimulating experiences appropriate to their age and stage of development.
• Ensure that practice and provision in the Club is in line with Ofsted’s guidance and meets the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
• Assist with planning for the EYFS curriculum, maintain accurate and effective children’s records, recording progression and evaluating practice in readiness for their next steps.
• Ensure that ALL children are kept safe and ALL staff understand, when necessary, to follow Safeguarding Procedures.
• Promote and facilitate partnerships with parents/ carers and other family members. Support the development of good practice with regards to special needs and inclusion.
• Establish, develop and maintain highly professional working relationships with relevant Local Authority Departments, regulatory bodies and other agencies.
• Develop and maintain highly professional working relationships with advisory teachers, school, area SENCO and other agencies.
• Create and maintain a culture of self-evaluation and reflective practice throughout the Club.
• Be fully aware of and adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures.
• Ensure the health and safety of the children, their parents and carers, the team and any visitors.
• A positive approach to learning and gaining new skills through teamwork and training opportunities.
• Attend staff meetings outside of working hours.
• Facilitate inspections by regulatory bodies and implement any recommendations.
• Ensure accurate reporting in respect of accidents, health and safety, safeguarding etc.
• Develop open and positive working relationships with ALL staff/management.
• Proactively represent the Company and advance its interests in the local community. Promote the Club to current parents and potential customers.
• Ensure and maintain friendly and professional relationships with parents and carers.
• Be responsible for administrative duties associated with the Club, such as maintaining children’s records, ordering equipment and maintaining inventories.
• Ensure that all the Company’s policies and procedures are adhered to.
• Undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by the Directors.

This post requires a DBS check as there may be periods of unsupervised access to children. An Enhanced DBS and satisfactory references would be obtained prior to commencement of employment.
