Location: Churchill Court, Bromley
Hours: 36 per week
Contract: Temporary
Start Date: 26 January 2026
Rate: PAYE £27.82 per hour / Ltd/Umbrella £37.55 per hour
About the Client
Bromley Council’s Referral & Assessment Service is the front door to Children’s Social Care, responsible for screening, assessing, and responding to safeguarding concerns. The team works at pace, ensuring timely decision‑making and high‑quality interventions for children and families.
The Role
The Senior Social Worker will act as a Senior Practitioner within the Referral & Assessment Team, managing complex cases, completing high‑quality assessments, and contributing to safeguarding decisions. You will support the team with professional guidance, risk analysis, and timely responses to referrals.
This is a fast‑paced frontline role requiring strong assessment skills, safeguarding expertise, and the ability to work confidently under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
Managing a complex caseload within the Referral & Assessment service.
Completing high‑quality assessments, including Section 47 and Child & Family Assessments.
Screening referrals and contributing to timely decision‑making.
Providing professional guidance and support to less experienced staff.
Working collaboratively with partner agencies to gather information and coordinate safeguarding responses.
Ensuring all work meets statutory requirements and Bromley’s practice standards.
Maintaining accurate, timely case records.
Candidate Requirements
Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.
Strong experience in Referral & Assessment or similar frontline safeguarding teams.
Proven ability to manage complex cases and make confident, evidence‑based decisions.
Excellent communication, analysis, and multi‑agency working skills.
Ability to work in a hybrid pattern (3 days office, 2 days remote).
