The Role
As Credit Risk Underwriter, you will evaluate the creditworthiness of counterparties and manage credit exposure across energy trading and business activities. This is a leadership role with line management responsibilities, requiring strong communication, analytical skills and commercial acumen.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct in-depth financial analysis of counterparties using financial statements, credit reports, and market data.
Assess transaction risks, structure credit terms, and propose credit limits aligned with company policies.
Monitor portfolio credit exposure, identify early warning signals, and prepare reports for senior management.
Stay informed on industry trends, market dynamics, and regulatory changes impacting risk.
Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Contribute to credit risk policy development and process improvements.
Attend monthly external stakeholder meetings in Central London.
What we are looking in this role:
5+ years’ experience in credit risk analysis or management, ideally in utilities, energy, or commodities trading
Proven people management and leadership experience
Excellent stakeholder management experience at all levels
Strong financial literacy and ability to interpret credit reports
Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
Advanced Excel and strong IT literacy
Knowledge of gas or electricity industry (desirable).
