Prospero Teaching is looking for an experienced SEMH/SEN Tutors to deliver targeted one-to-one and small group support to Key Stage 3 and 4 students in the Stanley, Durham area.
The learners are currently not attending full-time school due to Special Educational needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
About the Role
We currently have a referral for a complex student who is currently outside of mainstream schooling, and experiences difficulties in regulating his behaviour, regulating emotions, cognitive flexibility, social interaction, social understanding, and sensory processing.
The student faces difficulties interacting with other students and strangers and overall with their emotional dysregulation.
They needs a tutor who can help him engage in his education in positive way while also supporting them emotionally and help to positively regulate their emotions and anxiety during sessions, with the aim of eventually reintegrating them back into the school setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver 1:1 SEN/SEMH tutoring session
- Plan and adapt lessons to bridge learning gaps and build core English, Maths and Science skills.
- Help to engage the student and assist with regulating their emotions in a positive way during the sessions.
- Create a calm, safe, and encouraging learning environment.
- Monitor and record progress, attendance, and engagement.
- Provide regular feedback to parents, carers, and the Prospero Teaching team.
Role Details
- Pay rate: up to £30 per hour (dependent on experience and qualifications)
- Start date: ASAP
- Location: Stanley, Durham
- Contract type: Part time, 6 Hours per week, Flexible hours
