Murray Recruitment are recruiting a Lead Quantity Surveyor for our client based in Central Scotland.
Role Overview:
This is a senior-level opportunity for a commercially astute and ambitious Lead Quantity Surveyor to join a growing team. Based primarily in the office with travel to sites mainly across Glasgow and occasionally Edinburgh, this role supports a series of long-term contracts, some up to 10 years, within the social housing sector. As part of a close-knit commercial team of five, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in mentoring trainees, maintaining client relationships, and driving financial performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor a small team of surveyors and trainees, providing guidance and support.
Oversee commercial delivery of reactive maintenance and void refurbishment contracts.
Prepare and manage accurate cost forecasts, CVRs, WIP, and monthly valuations.
Ensure projects meet financial targets, identifying and mitigating commercial risks.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients and internal teams.
Support the tender process and ensure commercially sound project delivery.
Champion best practice and continuous improvement within the team.
Skills & Experience:
Experience in a Quantity Surveying role, within social housing essential.
Proven expertise in managing reactive and void maintenance projects.
Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying (BSc Hons).
Strong commercial acumen, with excellent negotiation and financial reporting skills.
Experience working with NEC, JCT, or SBCC forms of contract (advantageous).
Confident communicator, able to liaise effectively with clients and colleagues.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and internal field management systems.
Full UK driving licence.
