Why Derwentside College?
Derwentside College is proud to be one of the top-performing colleges for both learner and employer satisfaction. We are a forward-thinking, ambitious organisation and a major provider of apprenticeships, committed to delivering high-quality, industry-relevant training that makes a real difference.

What you will do?
We’re looking for a dedicated and skilled individual to provide technical support to learners and teaching staff within our cutting-edge engineering workshops. This is a fantastic opportunity to share your expertise and play a key role in shaping the engineers of tomorrow. You’ll guide learners in the safe and effective use of equipment and practical processes across engineering, manufacturing, and workshop practices.

What matters most is your hands-on workshop and practical experience. If you have a background in engineering environments and a passion for supporting learning, we want to hear from you. A Level 2 or Level 3 Engineering qualification is desirable. Ideally, you’ll also have or be willing to work towards the TAQA Assessor Qualification. Experience in supporting teaching and learning in a workshop or workplace setting, as well as knowledge of lean manufacturing principles (such as 5S or Six Sigma), would be a real advantage.

We’re looking for someone who is flexible, highly organised, and committed to delivering exceptional service. Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach are essential as you work to meet deadlines and support learners in achieving their goals.

This is a permanent, full-time post and the starting salary will depend upon an individual’s level of experience. If you would like to discuss the post in more detail, please contact Chris Bell (Curriculum Leader – Engineering) via chris.bell@derwentside.ac.uk.

The College is positively committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children, young people and vulnerable adults who attend its education and training provision. All staff are expected to share this commitment. The person appointed will be required to obtain a satisfactory DBS Enhanced Disclosure.

As an equal opportunities employer, the College welcomes applicants from all sections of the community. If you require support with your application or any other part of the recruitment process please contact us on 01207 585900 or email hr@derwentside.ac.uk
