Contract: Term time, Permanent
Hours: 35 hours per week over 36.8 weeks per year.
Salary: Surrey Pay Scale 4, Scale 2 ( FTE £25,052 - Pro rata - £19,942)
Responsible to: Early Years Phase Leader, Senior Leadership Team and ultimately HeadteacherROLE PURPOSE
To lead the provision in one of our nursery classes, working with our nursery children and providing the highest quality support for children’s learning, well-being and development.MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To lead the care, learning and development of children in one of the nursery classes, working in partnership with the Early Years Phase Leader to ensure the smooth running of the room.To work proactively to ensure that your team delivers early childhood care and education of the highest standard for children in an inclusive environment.To supervise and lead your team, ensuring that the provision operates effectively and in line with the nursery’s policies and procedures.To observe and monitor children’s development and actively contribute to written reports of their progress and maintain learning journeys for each child.To build and maintain effective relationships with families who attend the nursery.To plan for and deliver an engaging and purposeful environment
To maintain Surrey Support Plans (SSP) for children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and support children and families of children with SEN.To assist with the development and implementation of Surrey Support Plans and Personal and Intimate Care programmes.To develop daily planning for the environment and activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.To be aware of and comply with Sythwood Primary and Nursery School’s policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.To undertake training as required by the Early Years Phase Lead or school’s Senior Leadership Team.Any other duties commensurate to the grade or role, as directed by the Early Years Phase Leader or school’s Senior Leadership Team.SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLSKnowledge and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Excellent communication and listening skills, and the ability to communicate confidently with a wide range of people.Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
Able to work effectively and proactively as part of a team;
Ability to promote the provision in a positive and professional manner;
IT literate.
Good presentation skills.
Flexible and able to adapt to changing circumstances.
Ability to follow procedures.
Displays an awareness, understanding and commitment to the protection and safeguarding of children;Have a commitment to equal opportunities.ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification or equivalent
GCSE English and Maths
Previous experience of working with children in a school or nursery setting.
DESIRABLE SKILLS:
Current First Aid training certificate (paediatric)
Current safeguarding training certificate
Previous experience of planning and leading provision within an Early Years Setting
