Assist to develop the Council’s tree inventory and management system of all trees and woodlands within the Councils ownership to establish a framework for proactive cyclic inspection and maintenance of trees. Produce and organize associated work programmes and their delivery.

Deal effectively and efficiently with tree enquiries and complaints through to conclusion from members of the public, elected members and council officers both verbally and in writing, adhering to the Council’s tree management policies and customer service standards.

Raise works and assist in supervising and monitoring the performance of the Council’s arboricultural contractors and ensure that specifications and standards are fully complied with.

Assist with the development of a collaborative, partnership approach to tree and woodland management including project works with other service areas, the community, Friends Groups, volunteers and other organisations.

Maintain, interpret and disseminate information to promote best practice in the management of tree and woodland assets and resources.

Contribute to the preparation and presentation of reports for associated project boards, committees, community stakeholder groups and national, regional and local bodies as required.

Provide professional and technical advice to other council services, the public and other organisations on trees and woodlands.

Survey and assess private trees which represent a health and safety risk to users of the Public Highway and/ or have an amenity impact on Council assets and associated services.

Identify the presence and stage of Ash Dieback tree disease over the period when trees are in leaf.
