We are seeking a highly motivated and proactive individual with a positive, “can-do” attitude to join our Regulatory Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in protecting public health and supporting local businesses.

In this varied and rewarding role, you will:

Carry out routine inspections and audits across a range of regulatory areas, including food safety and health and safety.
Issue licences and provide assured advice to businesses.
Undertake project work and contribute to service improvements.
Enforce compliance through proportionate and effective interventions.
Work collaboratively to promote business growth while safeguarding public health.

We are recruiting for an Environmental Health/Food Safety Officers within our proactive Public Protection Team. You will be working within a very experienced, professional, friendly team of officers who keep the element of ‘team’ work at the very heart of what they do.

You will carry out a range of duties including:

Food safety and standards inspections
Food sampling
Investigating food complaints and infectious disease cases
Providing advice and preparing enforcement notices and reports
Investigate health & safety complaints and RIDDOR accident notifications and issue licences (qualification dependent)
You will manage your own case load responding to both proactive and reactive demands in a fast-paced environment. The role involves assessing intelligence, conducting investigations, and working collaboratively with internal departments and external agencies such as the FSA and UKHSA.

This is a hybrid role, with a base at one of our council offices (Chester, Winsford, or Ellesmere Port) and the flexibility to work from home.

About You

We’re looking for positive, dynamic, and results-focused individuals who are passionate about protecting public health and improving the quality of life for residents and visitors.

You will have:

A Diploma, Degree, or Master’s in Environmental Health or the Higher Certificate in Food Control
Experience in food safety in either the public or commercial sector
An understanding of multi-disciplinary working and integrated team approaches
The ability to adapt to change and drive positive outcomes
A full UK driving licence
