Temporary Part‑Time Library Branch Manager

Location: Antrim
Contract: Temporary - Ongoing
Hours: Part‑time (rota‑based) see below

Pay Rates
  • £15.48 per hour (standard rate)
  • £23.22 per hour (Saturday rate)

Role Overview

Our client in Antrim is currently seeking a Temporary Part‑Time Library Branch Manager to lead the effective day‑to‑day operation of a library service point. This role involves delivering high‑quality customer services, managing staff, and ensuring the smooth running of the library premises in line with current policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Core Library Services
  • Ensure all library services are delivered to consistently high standards
  • Comply with current library policies, procedures, and service expectations
  • Promote and support front‑line customer services to a diverse range of users
Staff Management
  • Manage, supervise, and appraise Senior Library Assistants, Library Assistants, and ancillary staff
  • Support staff development and effective teamwork within the branch
Premises & Administration
  • Oversee the routine maintenance of library premises
  • Maintain required records, files, and administrative systems
  • Escalate operational issues that cannot be resolved locally to the appropriate officer

Essential Criteria

Applicants must meet one of the following:

  • A minimum of two GCE A‑Levels (or equivalent or higher qualification)
    PLUS
    At least two years' experience working with the public in a customer‑focused environment within the last five years

OR

  • At least three years' experience working with the public in a customer‑focused environment within the last six years

In addition, applicants must demonstrate:

  • Experience contributing to the promotion and delivery of front‑line customer services
  • Experience using ICT systems/applications in a work environment
  • Experience of working in partnership or collaboration with internal and/or external customers
  • Experience of working effectively within a team environment to meet organisational objectives

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of managing staff
  • Experience working in a public, academic, or specialist library

Pre‑Employment Requirement

Candidates must hold a valid Enhanced Access NI Disclosure

Working Pattern (Rota)

This role operates on a two‑week rotating rota, including Saturdays.

Week 1
  • Monday: 09:15 - 17:00 (30‑minute break)
  • Tuesday: 12:15 - 20:00 (45‑minute break)
  • Wednesday: 09:15 - 17:00 (30‑minute break)
  • Thursday: 09:15 - 17:00 (30‑minute break)
  • Friday: 09:15 - 17:00 (30‑minute break)
Week 2
  • Monday: 09:15 - 17:00 (30‑minute break)
  • Tuesday: 12:15 - 20:00 (45‑minute break)
  • Wednesday: 09:15 - 17:00 (30‑minute break)
  • Thursday: Rest Day
  • Friday: 09:15 - 17:00 (30‑minute break)
  • Saturday: 09:15 - 17:00 (30‑minute break) (Saturday rate applies)
