About The Role
Support Worker | Graig Y Bedw – Pontraddulais, Swansea
Full Time – Waking Nights – Rolling Two-Week Rota
£12.60 – £12.80 per hour (depending on qualifications and experience)
At Priority Childcare, part of Orbis Education & Care, we provide person-centred support that helps people feel safe, secure, and supported around the clock. We’re now looking for Waking Night Support Workers to join our welcoming team at Graig Y Bedw in Pontardulais, Swansea.
Graig Y Bedw is a warm, supportive home set in a peaceful community, supporting adults with a range of needs including learning disabilities, mental health needs, and autism. During the night, your role is vital in creating a calm, reassuring environment where individuals can rest safely and wake feeling supported and settled.
If you’re someone who is reliable, patient, and comfortable working through the night, this is a rewarding opportunity to play a key role in people’s wellbeing.
Your Role as a Waking Night Support Worker
While the home is quieter overnight, your presence and support are essential. Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing reassurance and support to individuals throughout the night
- Monitoring wellbeing and responding appropriately to any needs or incidents
- Supporting personal care where required
- Completing regular checks and maintaining a safe, calm environment
- Accurately recording night-time observations and any incidents
- Working closely with the day team to ensure clear handovers
- Supporting light household duties where appropriate
What We’re Looking For
You don’t need previous care experience — just the right attitude and values. We’re looking for people who are:
- Calm, caring, and patient, with a reassuring approach
- Reliable and able to work independently overnight
- Confident communicators who can remain composed in unexpected situations
- Able to work waking night shifts as part of a rota, including weekends
- Hold a full UK driving licence (essential due to the needs of our individuals)
- Willing to learn — full training and ongoing support are provided
Please note: This role involves regulated activity with adults and requires an Enhanced DBS with barred list check.
What You’ll Get in Return
When you join Priority, you become part of an organisation that truly values its people:
- Employee Assistance Programme, Wellbeing Champions & Salary Finance support
- Blue Light Card – discounts at over 15,000 retailers
- Refer a Friend scheme – earn up to £1,000
- Funded QCF qualifications and clear career progression
(97% of our managers are promoted internally) - Health Shield Plan (after probation)
- Enhanced maternity & paternity pay (after 12 months’ service)
- Paid time off for cancer screening (JGHR Pledge signatory)
Ready to Apply?
If you’re passionate about providing calm, consistent support overnight and want a role that is meaningful and rewarding, we’d love to hear from you.
Apply today and begin your journey as a Waking Night Support Worker at Graig Y Bedw, where your presence truly makes a difference.
