Hours: Full-time 35 hours 8.00am to 15.30pm Mon – Fri

Senior Arborist – Lead Safe, High Quality Arboricultural Work Across Our Communities
Are you an experienced Arborist ready to take the next step into senior leadership? As a Senior Arborist at the trust, you’ll lead and support the Tree Services Team, supervising Arborists and Grounds staff to deliver safe, efficient and high quality arboricultural services in line with BS3998:2010. You’ll allocate work, lead on-site operations, train new team members, and ensure that our tree stock is managed to the highest professional standards.

What You’ll Do
• Use Confirm Connect to manage and monitor work, meeting performance and financial targets
• Carry out complex arboricultural work safely and efficiently in line with BS3998:2010
• Operate a wide range of specialist equipment such as chainsaws, pole saws, ropes, harnesses and hand tools
• Record all works accurately for costing, service charge and invoicing purposes
• Chip and dispose of green waste using appropriate machinery
• Conduct equipment safety checks and complete minor repairs
• Support the Tree Services Supervisor with tree inspections and technical assessments
• Lead on-the-job training for new staff, trainees and apprentices
• Handle day to day people matters on-site, escalating complex issues where required
• Hold regular 1:1 meetings with team members to support performance and wellbeing
• Lead health and safety on-site, delivering Toolbox Talks and promoting safe working practices
• Deliver excellent customer service and represent Peabody professionally
• Support the team in resolving complaints and ensuring positive outcomes
• Ensure all work complies with trust policies, procedures and statutory requirements
What You’ll Need
• Strong practical experience in arboriculture
• Solid understanding of arboricultural theory and industry best practice
• Experience supervising arboricultural teams in operational environments
• Ability to recognise and assess structural hazards, defects and ill health in trees, prescribing appropriate remedial action
• Ability to lead safe, compliant on-site operations
• Confident using IT systems such as Confirm Connect, GIS or tree survey software
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and undertake demanding work at height
• A formal Level 3 qualification in Arboriculture (or willingness to work towards this)
• Knowledge of legislation, risk management and public realm tree management
• LANTRA Professional Tree Inspector (PTI) – desirable
• Strong organisational, communication and prioritisation skills
• Several years’ practical arboricultural experience, including leadership responsibilities
