What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Teacher of Science who has high aspirations for our students. You will have good subject knowledge, a passion for Science, and want students to love Science as much as we do. As a member of the Outwood Family you will share our vision of ‘Students First’ and be able to work collaboratively with our network of outstanding heads of subject and senior leaders. You will also be supported on your journey by our Directors of Science. We are totally committed to providing the best possible education for every child, with a focus on creating a culture of success and a positive climate for learning.

What the school offers its staff

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Teacher of Science to join our dynamic department. The Science Department at Outwood Academy Hindley is a large and thriving department, where our team of specialist teachers deliver high quality lessons in specialist labs all contained within a purpose-built building and supported by our highly experienced team of technicians. The science curriculum is exceptionally well resourced with access to the most up to date classroom technologies to support teaching and learning.

As Principal of Outwood Academy Hindley, I am excited to introduce you to our school which was recently judged to be 'Good' in all areas by Ofsted. The report recognised our 'culture of care' and the welcoming environment that you would be joining if you were a member of staff here. There was also recognition of the 'strong emphasis on staff development'; if you are passionate about education and improving your practice, you are guaranteed to be given excellent CPD opportunities.

Our academy provides excellent career progression and training for staff. OGAT are proud to be a part of the National Institute of Teaching (NIoT) hosting its North and East campus as Outwood Academy Redcar and Outwood Academy Adwick. The NIoT identifies best practice in education, in order to develop cutting-edge, evidence-based teacher training and professional development programmes. OGAT colleagues benefit from the work of the institute, which draws on the expertise of some of the most outstanding school leaders in education today.

We offer a generous employment package with a whole host of staff benefits including a cycle to work scheme, plus a partnership with car leasing company, Synergy, with offers exclusively for Outwood colleagues.

If you would like a conversation about the position please contact David Fletcher, School Standards and Improvement Partner for Science, by email at d.fletcher@outwood.com who will be happy to assist.
