You will ideally have a Retail or FMCG background.

Your new role

To provide comprehensive HR support across all business areas, ensuring alignment with overall organisational strategy and operational requirements. This role partners closely with Senior Leaders to deliver effective people solutions spanning recruitment, employee relations, training, governance, and policy compliance. The post holder will report on HR activities to the HR Director, highlight risks, and drive continuous improvement across the employee lifecycle.

Employee Relations & Governance

  • Manage and conduct grievance and disciplinary investigations in a fair, consistent, and compliant manner.
  • Lead and participate in disciplinary hearings, redundancy consultations, welfare meetings, and other employee-related processes.
  • Provide expert advice on Employment Law and best practice employee relations.
  • Ensure all HR policies, procedures, and statutory requirements are executed effectively and with due diligence.
  • Resolve employee relations issues promptly, pragmatically, and in line with organisational values.

Recruitment & Talent Management

  • Lead end-to-end recruitment activities, including drafting job descriptions, interviewing, selection assessments, and onboarding.
  • Support the development and training of managers on people-related matters to build capability across the organisation.

HR Operations

  • Deliver HR processes effectively, including onboarding, offboarding, disciplinary, maternity, wellbeing and other lifecycle activities.
  • Prepare detailed HR reports for the HR Director, ensuring insights align with strategic priorities and highlight current or potential risks.

Continuous Improvement

  • Stay up to date with HR trends, legislative changes, and best practice to ensure forward-thinking HR support.
  • Demonstrate strong decision-making skills using appropriate tools, data, and frameworks to deliver quality outcomes.
  • Support ongoing development of HR processes, training, and operational improvements across all departments.

What you'll need to succeed

  • CIPD L5 (or equivalent)
  • Ideally be from a Retail or FMCG background
  • Strong understanding of UK Employment Law and HR best practice
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and judgement
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to manage complex employee relations cases
  • Detail-oriented with strong organisational and analytical skills
  • Confident in managing payroll and HR systems
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving and risk management
