About the CandidateWe are looking for staff that are flexible, have a cheerful and friendly disposition, be of smart appearance, have good verbal communication skills and the ability to work without direct supervision. Previous experience of working in a catering / Café environment and cash handling experience would be an advantage
About the Role
• Appoint an enthusiastic catering assistant to work predominantly 8am-3.30pm at the Campus Café (Monday – Friday).
• This a great opportunity work with a progressive catering department
• Dedicated CPD and in-house e-learning development opportunities
• To work as catering assistant preparing and serving a range of hot and cold food to staff and students
• Comply with health and safety and hygiene procedures and regulations relevant to their working areas.
Role Responsibilities
Using no more than 6 bullet points, please outline the daily tasks and responsibilities the candidate can expect to perform in this position.
• To work as catering assistant preparing and serving a range of hot and cold food to staff and students.
• Assist with Buffets for internal hospitalities.
• Assist with clearing away and washing of crockery and utensils in the kitchens.
• Day to day maintenance tasks such as Table clearance, emptying litter bins, sweeping floors, dishwashing, general cleaning
• Filling drinks fridges & vending machines
Qualifications
• Food Safety level 2
• Allergen Awareness certificate
Essential Skills & Experience
To be active in providing a range of customer-orientated services to students and to staff in college catering outlets. These to include:
1. Serving at the café counter during mealtimes
2. Cleaning and preparing vegetables and other food prior to cooking
3. The making up of sandwiches
4. Assisting with basic cookery tasks
5. Assisting with the sale of food and confectionery, including using a till & PDQ machine for the collection of money.
Desirable Skills & Experience – (Optional)
• First aider
• Previous experience in education catering
