The Headteacher and Governing Body of this inclusive, nurturing and successful Primary School are seeking to appoint an HLTA to lead our newly established ‘Willow Class’. The class will be for approximately 6-8 pupils who have Additional Learning Needs (ALN). All pupils have communication and interaction difficulties and require a tailored curriculum in order to meet their needs.
This is a unique opportunity for a talented, skilled and highly motivated individual to work with ALN pupils. The successful candidate will be fully involved in creating, shaping and developing the learning environment for this class prior to their appointment. ‘Willow Class’ will also have a full-time Teaching Assistant who will provide additional support for the pupils. Therefore, the ability to plan and utilise additional adults in a classroom will be essential for this post.
Willowbrook Primary School is a large two-form entry school, serving the residential area of St Mellons, Cardiff. Approximately 420 pupils are on roll including 64 part-time Nursery pupils. Over 35% of pupils are entitled to Free School Meals and 36 languages are spoken at the school. Around 6% of pupils have ALN and require an IDP to support their learning.

•demonstrates good Literacy, Numeracy and Digital skills.

•is willing to contribute to school life outside of the classroom.
•is committed to their own and others’ professional learning
