Job Description & Responsibilities These positions are based within the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) Department. While the primary focus will be OMFS, there may be a requirement to support other outpatient areas as service needs dictate. You will join a multidisciplinary team of qualified dental nurses and clinical support workers who specialise in OMFS procedures and outpatient clinics. Key Responsibilities: Provide day-to-day coordination and management of outpatient clinics, ensuring a safe and effective skill mix across all areas, particularly in the absence of the Band 7 Manager. Manage daily clinic operations efficiently, ensuring patients receive a high standard of care. Develop and maintain excellent knowledge of outpatient clinic processes, as well as general medical and surgical conditions. A special interest in OMFS, or a willingness to develop expertise in this specialty, is desirable. Gain proficiency, or maintain competence, in: Wound care, including compression and VAC dressings ECG recording Assisting with minor operations Supporting clinicians during minor surgery clinics, including ensuring completion of WHO checklists per Trust policy Assist with minor skin surgeries, manage wound care, record procedures accurately, and ensure the safe transportation of specimens to pathology. Supervise and support junior staff, ensuring safe and effective clinical practice within the outpatient setting.
