It operates independently but in close collaboration with industry, local authorities, and other public sector bodies to support the UK's decarbonisation goals.
Your new role
As Commercial Lead, you will be responsible for delivering commercial excellence, acting as a trusted advisor to the local delivery team, and ensuring a customer-focused approach that aligns with business needs and stakeholder priorities. You will:

- Oversee the full commercial lifecycle, including strategy, procurement, contract and supplier management, and grant delivery.
- Develop category management strategies, lead supplier negotiations, and provide expert commercial guidance.
- Ensure commercial assurance measures are embedded from the outset and maintain strong engagement across the organisation.
- Within your first year, you will be required to gain a Government Commercial Function accreditation at Commercial Lead grade.
What you'll need to succeed
- Extensive experience in procurement management, delivering multiple procurements using central frameworks and open procedures.
- Proven contract management skills, handling medium to high complexity/value contracts.
- Strong knowledge of category management and the end-to-end commercial and grant lifecycle.
- Demonstrated ability to secure value for money and influence senior stakeholders and suppliers.
- Commercial acumen, including understanding trade-offs and contract law.
- Risk and assurance management skills, with evidence-based decision-making.
- High ethical standards, upholding integrity in supply chains.
- Team leadership experience, including developing others and managing performance.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
- Experience with Public Contract Regulations 2015 and/or Procurement Act 2023.
What you'll get in return
- Competitive salary (£55,105 - £62,475) with a Civil Service Pension (employer contribution of 28.97%).
- Flexible working options, including job sharing, homeworking, and compressed hours.
- Minimum 25 days annual leave, increasing with service.
- Extensive learning and professional development opportunities.
- Access to retail, travel, and lifestyle discounts.
- Hybrid working policy (40-60% office attendance expected).
- Inclusive culture, with support for disabled candidates and those with long-term health conditions.
