About the Role: Facilities & Maintenance OfficerActivate Learning is seeking a Facilities & Maintenance Officer to join the team at Guildford College. This full-time, permanent position plays a vital role in keeping the campus safe, secure, clean, and fully operational to support teaching and learning.As a Facilities & Maintenance Officer, you will act as a hands-on handypersoncarrying out a wide range of DIY and maintenance tasks across the campus. Duties include unlocking and securing buildings, general repairs, painting and decorating, setting up rooms for events, moving furniture, and providing practical support for day-to-day campus operations. You will also monitor site security, respond to helpdesk requests, maintain external areas, and oversee waste and recycling processes.Key Responsibilities:Day-to-day facilities maintenance and estates supportCarrying out handyperson and DIY repairs, including minor fixes and improvementsConducting health & safety checks and ensuring complianceGrounds maintenance and weather-related clearance (e.g. snow and ice)Participating in an on-call rota (one week in every four)Occasional overtime and weekend work as requiredProviding support across other campuses when neededThis is a varied, practical role, ideal for a reliable and proactive individual who enjoys hands-on DIY work and problem-solving in a facilities or handyperson environment.This is a permanent, full-time role based at Guildford College.What Do You Need to Be a Successful Facilities & Maintenance Officer?The successful candidate will be a proactive, solutions-focused individual with a strong team ethic and a customer-focused approach to facilities support. You will be confident working independently as a handyperson, handling routine maintenance and DIY tasks while ensuring health and safety standards are met.
