The Role: Empowering Independence in Secondary EducationAre you a resilient and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant looking to support a young person through their secondary school journey?
We are seeking a dedicated individual to provide 1:1 support for a specific student within a vibrant secondary school environment. At this level, your role is not just about academic support, but about helping a student build the confidence, social skills, and independence needed to succeed in their teenage years and beyond.
Key ResponsibilitiesWorking closely with Subject Teachers and the SENCO, your day-to-day will include:

Curriculum Access: Providing 1:1 support across a variety of secondary subjects (KS3/KS4), helping the student manage complex timetables and transitions.

EHCP Implementation: Delivering the targets outlined in the student's Education, Health and Care (EHC) plan or IEP.

Exam Support: Assisting with adapted materials and potentially acting as a scribe or reader during assessments.

Social & Life Skills: Helping the student navigate the complexities of secondary school social dynamics and fostering emotional regulation.

Promoting Independence: Implementing strategies that move the student toward self-reliance in preparation for post-16 transitions.

Progress Tracking: Collaborating with staff to monitor academic progress and behavioural trends.
We are looking for a mentor-figure who is patient, proactive, and understands the unique challenges of the secondary setting:

Experience: Previous experience with secondary-aged youth with SEN (e.g., Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or Moderate Learning Difficulties).

Adaptability: The ability to support a variety of subjects and remain calm in a fast-paced environment.

Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with teenagers while maintaining professional boundaries.

Resilience: A firm but fair approach to managing challenging behaviours or emotional outbursts.

Qualifications: Relevant qualifications or experience in a secondary education or youth work setting is highly desirable.

Competitive Daily Rate: £88.92 - £95 per day.
