Scrub Nurse/Practitioner: Epsom Hospital
Band 6, 37.5 hours per week, permanent

Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust is a large 768 bed acute Trust serving South West London and Surrey. The trust is rated as Good by the CQC and we welcome applications from individuals committed to being part of the team to maintain and build on this.

Our theatre teams have a proven track record of providing high-quality care to our patients and are looking for a Registered Scrub Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner who is committed to providing consistent gold standard. Epsom Hospital has 5 main theatres and 2 day surgery theatres.

This post is suitable for an experienced registered theatre scrub nurse or ODP looking to progress and enhance their skills. Our ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, pro-active team player who demonstrates excellent communication and leadership skills.

A flexible approach is essential as an on-call commitment and internal rotation is required for this post.

To have responsibility for the following aspects of care and management:

Develop and update protocols and related practice in line with current research

Care delivered to patients and monitoring of standards of care

Selection, deployment, training and development of staff and students

Assesses and develops and implements specialised nursing packages of care and works in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team to maintain standard

To create and support an environment of lifelong learning and continuous

professional development

Refers and orders specialised tests in line with agreed protocols and clinical governance guidelines.

To assist in the development of evidence based practice in the renal service.

Educational strategies that ensure patient care needs are met.

Provides highly specialised nursing advice to ensure appropriate treatment and care is is always delivered to the patient.

Is accountable for the provision, organisation, and direction of the nursing care for the patient in his/her care.
