Crynodeb

Can you hold your own in a debate with a quick-witted teenager?

Are you looking to use your degree or coaching experience to help students smash their GCSE targets?

Do you have the confidence to step into a busy classroom and command respect from the moment you walk in?

If you answered "yes," you are ready for the fast-paced world of Secondary education. Randstad Education is currently recruiting proactive Secondary Teaching Assistants to work in our partner Academies and High Schools across Sheffield.

Working in Secondary education isn't about "nurture" in the traditional sense, it's about engagement, rapport, and boundaries. We need individuals who can act as positive role models for students aged 11-16, helping them navigate the pressures of exams and adolescence.

The Role

As a Secondary TA, you won't be washing paint pots. You will be facilitating learning at a higher level.

  • Academic Support: working within specific departments (e.g., English, Maths, Science, or Humanities) to help students grasp complex curriculum content.

  • Behaviour Mentoring: specific work with students who may be disengaged or disruptive, helping them stay in the classroom and focus.

  • Exam Prep: assisting with revision sessions and acting as a scribe/reader during mock exams.

  • Inclusion: ensuring students with SEN (Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia) can access the mainstream curriculum alongside their peers.

Why Sheffield Graduates & Coaches Choose Randstad
  • Pathway to Teaching: This is the ultimate experience for aspiring Secondary Teachers. Many of our TAs go on to become Cover Supervisors or start their PGCEs with the schools we place them in.

  • Weekly Pay (PAYE): We pay competitively and transparently. No umbrella companies, no unexpected deductions.

  • Flexibility: Use our app to fit work around your lifestyle. Whether you are studying part-time or have other commitments, you accept the shifts that work for you.

  • Diverse Schools: From large Multi-Academy Trusts in S5 to smaller community schools in S8, you get to see how different schools operate.

Requirements
  • Experience: You must have experience working with young people aged 11-18 (e.g., Youth Work, Sports Coaching, Tutoring, Camp America, or previous school experience).

  • Education: A degree is highly desirable (especially for subject-specific support), but a strong background in youth engagement is just as valuable.

  • Vetting: A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or the willingness to apply for one).

  • Skills: Confidence, a thick skin, and the ability to build professional relationships with young adults quickly.

How to Apply

If you want a job that is never boring and makes a genuine impact on the futures of Sheffield's young people, apply today.

Send your CV or call the randstad team on 0114 2743765 to discuss your options.

Randstad Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
