Overview of the role/schoolWe are looking to recruit a well organised part time attendance officer to join our vibrant school.This is an exciting opportunity for someone who can be flexible, remains calm under pressure and is able to communicate easily with colleagues, students and parents. Job ResponsibilitiesTo complete daily attendance registers including absence calls and emails, with the aim to raise achievement by improving school attendance and punctuality and to meet our attendance targets.To complete daily attendance administration, including:Logging onto SIMS all student absenceClearing attendance answerphone messages and following up by recording on SIMS with reasons dailyChecking emails and Parentmail in relation to attendance and entering on SIMS dailyEntering information from signing in and out sheetsCreating an initial absence list in case of fire alarm by 9.20amPassing absence lists to EWOs to prioritise any home visitsContacting parents regarding missing students by 11am once absence lists are finalised
To process and action term time absence requests after consultation with Heads of Year and the Headteacher.To liaise with Education Welfare Officers, Heads of Year and Pastoral Support regarding attendance concerns and produce reports as necessary.To identify attendance issues and patterns of absence or late arrival.To promote good attendance within school and maintain high standards of confidentiality at all times.To contribute to the safeguarding and promotion of the welfare and personal care of children and young people in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidelines and Area Child Protection Procedures.
