Summary
We are seeking a Personal Assistant (PA) to support a 25-year-old man who is a full-time powerchair user with cerebral palsy and mild learning difficulties. He is fully verbal and communicates clearly but requires support with all aspects of daily living, including personal care, dressing, feeding, shopping, and housework. He uses a hoist for all transfers, and training in its use will be provided.
The role involves working 6 hours per week on Thursdays, with additional hours available to cover annual leave or sickness, and the possibility of more regular hours in the future for the right person. A clean driving license is essential, along with the ability to drive a large wheelchair-accessible van.
Daily activities may include painting, baking, gaming, or going out to local parks and other places of interest. The ideal candidate will be proactive in suggesting plans for the day, as he enjoys variety but tends not to initiate ideas himself. He values routine and likes to know what the plan is, while also being involved in shared decision-making.
The working environment is relaxed and friendly. He is comfortable with both male and female carers, and you will be joining an existing team. There is also a quiet, well-behaved cat in the home, so comfort around animals is necessary.
This is a rewarding role for someone who is patient, respectful, and committed to supporting independence while providing consistent, high-quality care. Provide daily support and personal care
Roles and Responsibilities:
