- Provide clear academic and people leadership to a department of c.40 academic staff, fostering a positive, inclusive and high-performing culture.
- Lead workload planning, performance management, and staff development, ensuring expectations are clear, fair and aligned to Faculty priorities.
- Be accountable for the quality of teaching, assessment and curriculum design across the department’s portfolio.
- Ensure programmes remain current, inclusive and aligned with employer and professional expectations.
- Lead the development and delivery of a clear departmental plan aligned to Faculty and University strategy.
- Manage departmental resources effectively, including staffing and budgets, to ensure financial sustainability.
- Contribute actively to the Faculty Leadership Team, supporting Faculty-wide initiatives and collective decision-making.
- Represent the Faculty internally and externally as required.
- Maintain appropriate engagement with employers, professional bodies and external partners to support curriculum relevance and student employability.
- Contribute personally to scholarship, research, knowledge exchange or professional practice, appropriate to the seniority of the role.
