Position 1: 37 hours per week (5 days), seasonal for 7 months (April – October, 3 year fixed term contract)
Position 2: 29.6 hours per week (4 days), seasonal for 7 months (April – October, 3 year fixed term contract)

Rota shifts over 7 days, to include some weekend working.

We’re looking for two Visitor Management Officers to join our friendly and proactive team during the busy summer season. Based at Coniston Boating Centre, you’ll play a key role in supporting the Authority’s car parking operations, parking enforcement, public facilities and wider visitor management activities across the National Park.

We will provide a van to enable you to carry out your duties. Once you’re fully up to speed with your duties, you’ll be able to work from other National Park sites, including Kendal, Threlkeld and Haverthwaite.

You’ll work closely with a range of internal and external partners to deliver initiatives that support high visitor pressure locations, contributing to the work of the Cumbria Strategic Visitor Management Group (SVMG).

The role
Your main duties and responsibilities will be:
• Engagement with visitors across the whole of the National Park, providing education and encouragement to prevent or reduce visitors’ adverse behaviours and impacts. To respond to visitors’ damage to the landscape, by taking practical steps to mitigate those harms.
• Supporting the delivery of Area Action Visitor Management Plans and the requests of the Strategic Visitor Management Group.
• On site management of the LDNPA’s car parks owned, managed, and leased for the purpose of maximising The Authority’s car parking income contribution, and facilitating a positive visitor parking experience.

You’ll be hard working, friendly and happy to engage and interact with and educate visitors.

You’ll have excellent communication skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to stay calm and helpful during busy periods.
