WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:Is a key member of the engineering team and has responsibility to ensure the sewing machines are kept in a good and safe operating condition at all times.Will carry out maintenance on the sewing machines; ensuring work is carried out safely; keeping machines well maintained in a safe working condition.Will ensure the cutting room equipment is kept up to date with its service regime and being the first responder to any technical issues;Will ensure contractors are correctly managed when on site; update the spare part inventory where necessary ensuring enough spares are kept in stock; keep accurate records; provide detailed reports (including but not limited to) of any maintenance, breakdowns and incidents; Provide ideas and solutions to improve current machinery and process’; Support in specifying new sewing and cutting room machinery; Support other areas of manufacturing when requested by their line manager; Carry out risk assessments and develop SSOW. Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesEnsure sewing machinery and cutting room equipment is kept in a safe working condition.Keep machine and equipment downtime to a minimum.Carry out proactive planned maintenance tasks without supervisionCarry out reactive maintenance tasks without supervision.Diagnose faults effectively and make good whenever possible.Carry out mechanical repair and/or replacement of equipmentEnsure all tasks are risk assessed through site specific or dynamic assessments.Sourcing parts and materials from suppliers and arranging procurement through technical administration.Administering work permits and monitoring 3rd party contractors.Keeping accurate recordsUpdating and maintaining the CMMS systemKeep a clean and tidy work area at all timesKnowledge, skills and Experience required for site maintenance engineerExperience in sewing machine maintenance (preferred)Minimum NVQ Level 2 in MechanicalGood literacy and numeracy skills, able to keep a track of and report on activityGood communication and interpersonal skillsTeam playerAdaptable and flexibleTidy worker with good organisational skills.Develop and maintain strong relationships with colleagues
