Bromley Heath Infant School is looking to appoint a skilled teaching assistant, predominantly to support a child currently in Y2. Until 12:15, this involves supporting within the classroom as well as in a quiet, personalised space for bespoke curriculum work and intervention. From 12:15-1, this involves supporting at lunchtime so involves facilitating and encouraging play.
The successful applicant must have …
• A love of children, ability to be flexible, and be able to use their own initiative
• Experience of supporting children who present with ASD in a primary, early years or infant school setting
• Knowledge and experience of working across KS1 (experience of EYFS would be an advantage)
• Experience of working with children with complexity of need including children who struggle with focus and demand, SEMH, social communication difficulties, physical and sensory needs
• An ability to champion and celebrate children’s achievements
• An ability to work within a team collaboratively and with a ‘job-share’ in a consistent and supportive manner
• An ability to work with external agencies e.g. educational psychologists and speech and language therapists and to put into place recommendations from them, as directed by the SENDco and class teacher
• An ability to forge and sustain positive relationships with families
• Instil the school’s vision and values through positive behaviour strategies and can support our children in their personal, social and emotional well-being, including through modelling
• An ability to support children with a variety of learning needs and demonstrate a commitment to achieving the best outcomes for all children
• Experience of working on a personalised curriculum and with a child-led and play-based approach with an ability to facilitate play alongside others both in the classroom and at lunchtimes
• Experience of working with a child who needs a multi-sensory approach e.g. actions, music, movement
• Additional training will be provided where needed – this may be external or internal using existing staff expertise
