About the Role

We are looking for a unique Paediatric Health Care Assistant within the Weymouth area who can support a young male service user with profound disabilities therefore relies on others 24/7 to meet his needs and keep him safe. Working with the service user will provide opportunities for the carer to gain experience and knowledge within a number of different areas, such as:

  • Suctioning
  • Administering feeds, water and medications via a gastrojejunostomy
  • Identifying and monitoring seizures
  • Recording and interpreting vital signs
  • Administering nebulisers
  • Providing personal and pressure area care

Our service user lives with his foster family in a warm and loving home environment. The successful applicant will partake in shadow shifts alongside a competent member of our service users' care team until they feel ready to provide care without supervision.

This position is rewarding, person-centred and will equip the carer with a wide range of beneficial skills.

We are looking for:

  • The ideal carer must be a driver and willing to travel to Ferndown (BH22) as the service user is in respite once a month
  • Must have flexibility to work during the week if cover is needed, and must be willing to work weekends

Theory and Practical training will be provided free of charge to ensure you have the correct skills and knowledge to support this service user's needs. This is an amazing opportunity to learn new skills and progress in your health and social care career. Practical clinical training will be delivered by one of our nurses so you can learn first-hand from their expertise.

What are your duties as a Healthcare Assistant in this package?

  • Support in Moving and Handling & Personal Care
  • Support and maintain all clinical needs.
  • Training Carers.
  • To be respectful and maintain professional boundaries
  • Someone who will go above and beyond for the Service User and staff involved in the package.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 6 months of professional care experience
  • The right to work in the UK and have the correct documentation for this
  • A full enhanced DBS
  • An up-to-date CV with full working history
