Thorn Baker Industrial Recruitment are looking for an experienced Buyer to join our client based in Leicester

They are a long established manufacturing business that are looking for someone to join their team due to an upcoming retirement

The job:

• You will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing materials, components an sub contracted services that are essential to ongoing manufacturing projects.
• You will ensure that all procurement activity meets company quality, cost and delivery expectations while supporting production schedules and operational targets
• Working hours Monday to Thursday 7.30am-4.30pm and Friday 7.30am-12.30pm
• Salary is £30-33k dependant on your experience

Key responsibilities:

• Raise purchase orders, track shipments and resolve any supply chain issues
• Work closely with production and project teams to forecast material needs and ensure timely availability
• Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation for improved supplier performance
• Support cost saving initiative opportunities for improved supplier performance
• Ensure material received meets required specifications and quality standards
• Contribute to continuous improvement activities within the procurement and production functions

Person requirement:

You must have previous experience in a purchasing or buyer or procurement role within manufacturing, sheet metal or engineering
• Experience in using an MRP system - if used Javelin - that would be a big bonus although training will be provided
• Be able to demonstrate strong negotiation and supplier management skills
• Ability to read and understand technical information, specifications or drawings
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and record keeping
• Effective communicator and able to work across multiple departments
• Proactive approach to problem solving and supporting operational needs
• Strong commitment to quality and adherence to company standards
