An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated band 7 echocardiographer to join the Cardio-Respiratory department at Mid Cheshire Hospital Trust.

The post holder will be a fully independent practitioner performing and reporting a full range of adult Echocardiograms to BSE standards. Experience of bubble and contrast echo and valve surveillance clinics is desirable but not essential.

The post holder will be a member of the Cardio-Respiratory team at Mid Cheshire Hospital and therefore there will be an opportunity to rotate through our Northwich Victoria site to be a valuable member of the wider team and keep up wider skill set.

The service will run 08:00 - 20:00 7 days a week. Hours will be worked on a shift pattern to include weekend and evenings. Part time applicants are welcome to apply but will be expected to participate in evening and weekend duties.

To work as part of the Cardio-Respiratory and Vascular diagnostics team, supporting the delivery of high quality, safe and patient focused care, carrying out clinical duties at a highly specialist level to meet the needs of the Service and its patients.

To be proficient at independently performing high quality transthoracic echocardiography to standards outlined by British Society of Echocardiography on adult patients with a broad spectrum of pathologies (including oncology and stroke patients and high-risk inpatients in intensive care settings) in both outpatient and inpatient environments.

To independently interpret and generate reports for investigations performed, ensuring that results requiring urgent medical attention are escalated and actioned accordingly.

To support advanced imaging techniques such as contrast and bubble studies.

To actively support the development and expansion of Physiologist led clinics.

Main Duties:

To be proficient at performing and reporting transthoracic echocardiography independently to BSE standards.

To perform a range of highly complex diagnostic echocardiograms (challenging cases such as inherited cardiomyopathies, oncology patients, and stroke) on adults with a broad spectrum of pathology, in both outpatients and inpatients environment.

To interpret complex data to ascertain and identify any pathological or incidental findings observable. Consider and report diagnoses as appropriate.

To communicate test results, technical information, and exchange specialist information with colleagues from your own and other disciplines.

Maintain own CPD and BSE accreditation

Keep up to date with current developments and advances in Echocardiography and general Cardiology.

Respond promptly to emergencies, in accordance with departmental and resus council procedures, ensuring resus equipment is checked and up to date daily.

To provide leadership and take responsibility for the guidance and support of junior members of the Cardio-Respiratory and vascular team.

To always maintain patient confidentiality in line with corporate policy

Person Specification:
• BSc in Cardiac Physiology or BTEC HNC or equivalent.
• BSE TTE Adult Accredited.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a post registration Cardiac Physiologist or equivalent.
• Will be fully competent in carrying out full study BSE echocardiograms including strain assessments
