Crynodeb
We are seeking a reliable, motivated and flexible Pumping Station Caretaker to join our operations team. This hands-on-role involves ground maintenance across 35+ sites, as well as supporting minor repairs, assisting with maintenance and inspections at the Board’s pumping stations throughout the year.
Reports to: Pump Engineer Manager
Hours of work: The Board operates a 76 hour nine-day fortnight (i.e. every second
Friday is a day off work). Monday to Thursday 7.00am to 4.00pm, Friday
7.00am to 3.30pm with a half-hour lunch break. The successful applicant
will commence work as soon as possible.
A 4x4 vehicle will be provided for business use and a lone working/man
down mobile phone will be provided
Grade: Spine Point 12 (ADA Lincolnshire Branch White Book Terms &
Conditions)
Salary: £27,996, equating to £2,333 per month (£14.13 per hour) at 2025/26
pay rates
Pension: Contributory Lincolnshire Local Government Pension Scheme available
Location: Station Road, Swineshead (working across the Board’s district)
Key Responsibilities
• Grounds maintenance including grass cutting, strimming, spraying and chainsaw
work.
• General site and building maintenance including painting, fence repairs, glazing and minor repairs.
• Assisting the Pump Engineer Manager and Assistant Pump Engineer with
maintenance and inspections.
• Safe and responsible use of vehicles and equipment.
• Adhering to safety standards and operational procedures.
• Responding effectively to emergencies and callouts.
Essential Criteria
• Experience in ground maintenance or similar work.
• Ability to operate tools and equipment (mowers, strimmers, chainsaws).
• Self-motivated and confident working alone.
• Flexible with overtime and callouts.
• Safety conscious and environmentally aware.
• Professional and well presented.
• Willingness to learn and develop through training.
• Positive attitude and sense of humour.
• Full UK driving license.
Desirable Criteria
• Chainsaw qualifications.
• PA1/PA6 spraying certificates.
• Experience working around water, drainage or pumping stations.
• Trailer towing or 4x4 experience.
• Basic building or mechanical maintenance skills.
• Experience in drainage, facilities or land management roles.
• First aid training.
• Keen interest in mechanical/electrical.
Additional Information
Overtime may be required particularly during rainfall events. Applicants should live within or be willing to relocate to the Board’s district.
