About Vanilla Etc Ltd
Vanilla Etc Ltd is a family-run business, BRCGS AA-graded, renowned for its expertise in delivering a range of premium-grade vanilla products to both B2B and B2C markets. Our range includes Grade “A” vanilla pods, vanilla powder, and our award-winning, in-house manufactured vanilla extracts and vanilla bean paste — all sourced directly from Madagascar, the world’s leading producer of vanilla.
We are committed to maintaining the highest quality standards in line with BRCGS Standard 9. Our products are distributed throughout the UK to food and beverage manufacturers, food service suppliers, and specialty retailers such as Booths Supermarket, Lakeland, and Selfridges, as well as directly to consumers and international markets.
Our roots are humble, our standards are high, and our team is small but mighty. If you're someone who takes pride in their work, thrives in a close-knit environment, and isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves, you’ll fit right in.
The Role
We are looking for a QA Technician to support both our quality assurance and production operations. This is a hands-on role within a small and growing food manufacturing business, where production and operational support will make up a significant proportion of the role, alongside core quality and technical responsibilities.
You will work closely with the Production Director and Technical Director to ensure that food safety, quality, and compliance standards are upheld at all times, while also actively contributing to day-to-day manufacturing, packing, and warehouse activities.
As Vanilla Etc Ltd continues to grow, there is strong potential for this position to develop into a more dedicated QA-focused role. For now, we are seeking someone practical, adaptable, and comfortable balancing quality responsibilities with physical, on-the-floor production work.
Key Responsibilities
Quality & Technical
> Maintain accurate, complete, and audit-ready quality and food safety documentation.
> Ensure compliance with BRCGS Standard 9, HACCP, and all relevant food safety legislation
> Manage environmental swabbing, microbiological testing, and product testing schedules
> Investigate customer complaints, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions
> Complete cleaning verification checks and ensure all other daily records are signed off, including CCP records
> Support internal and external audits, customer visits, traceability exercises, and supplier questionnaires
> Maintain staff training records and ensure refresher training is completed and documented
> Support continuous improvement and audit-readiness initiatives
Production & Operations
> Support the production team with manufacturing activities, including filling, labelling, and packing
> Assist with picking and packing customer orders for dispatch
> Maintain a clean, organised, and food-safe working environment
> Be flexible and willing to support a variety of tasks as required by the business
About You
You will be organised, proactive, and detail-oriented, with a genuine interest in food quality and safety. You’ll be comfortable working in a hands-on role that combines quality responsibilities with physical production work.
