It is the standard element of the role and responsibility of all staff that they fulfill a proactive role towards the management of risk in all of their actions. Members of staff are responsible for adherence to all Trust policies for the safety of staff and patients at work. Has responsibility for ensuring that children and young people are safeguarded and must comply with the NHS Safeguarding Children Procedures and the LSCB Child Protection Procedures. The post holder must attend safeguarding children training at a level appropriate to the role and function of the post. Safeguarding Children Training is mandatory for all staff within the Trust. The post holder will have responsibility in delivering the following key result areas: Provision of full clinical dental care for patients with special needs. Provision of dental care under general anaesthesia and sedation. Provision of dental care in a domiciliary setting if appropriate. Provision of dental care in a secondary care setting if appropriate. Provision of care for bariatric patients Take a leading role in planning and development of County Durham & Darlington Community Specialist Dental Services in conjunction with Senior Team. Teaching sessions with clinical team and leading audit projects for service development. Carry out needs assessments and develop services for adult patients with special needs, and for children and young adults with special needs, as appropriate. Support and motivate Community Dental Staff providing care for children and adult patients with special needs. Supervise and support dental care professionals in the effective day-day management and running of clinic sites. Liaise closely with Consultants in Paediatric Dentistry, Consultant and Specialist in SCD and participate in local Managed Clinical Network in provision of care to special needs groups. Liaise closely with the Oral Health Promotion Team in developing programmes. Work as part of local multidisciplinary networks to develop patient pathways. Undertake specific project work under the direction of the Services Manager when appropriate. Collection of statistical activity data. Participation in the County Durham & Darlington Community Specialist Dental Services Job Planning and Appraisal process as directed by Salaried Dentist Terms and Conditions of Service 2024. Participation in Trust Appraisal scheme.
