Summary
The post holder will be part of the Adult Speech and Language Therapy team currently based out of Brentwood Community Hospital. The role is a clinical specialist position to work with complex communication and swallowing patients in both the Early Supported Discharge (ESD) for Stroke caseload and the general community caseload. The aim is to provide highly specialist clinical assessment and management for complex cases, support training and quality improvement work and develop junior colleagues within the team with support from the Team Lead.
· Independent provision of highly specialist assessment, rehabilitation and management communication and swallowing impairments resulting from a range of aetiologies including but not limited to Stroke, Head Injury, Cancer, Dementia, Frailty, Parkinson’s Disease, Motor Neurone Disease, Huntingdon’s Disease and Multiple Sclerosis.Devise and deliver appropriate highly specialist intervention/care plans for clients with complex needs and provide suitable and timely support including for complex capacity assessments.Contribute to multidisciplinary support for clients with a range of swallow and communication difficulties.Provide feedback, advice and training to family members, carers and members of the multidisciplinary team regarding communication needs and swallowing difficulties and strategies to facilitate development.
