Have you considered a career as a Specialist Public Health Practitioner? Specialist Public Health Practitioners are at the forefront by contributing to improving health outcomes for children and young people aged 0-19. Community Services are offering the opportunities for registered nurses to undertake the Specialist Community Public Health Nurse programme leading to a qualification in School Nursing. This offer is for the year of September 2025 to September 2026. Please note it is now a requirement of this post that you have current NMC registration at the time of completing your application form. Through this application process you are applying for a place at Derby or Sheffield Hallam University You will undertake required study with the affiliated university and clinical practice days are spent with an experienced Specialist Public Health Practitioner working within their defined caseload and learning about School Nursing practice. You will be assessed throughout the course both in practice and academically. There are different base locations across the County. If you are interested in embarking on this exciting new profession check to see if you meet the criteria Are you: - A registered nurse with a range of post basic qualification experience? - Essential requirement to have a Degree in Nursing (360 credits) or evidence of level 7 study. Sheffield University will accept a Diploma and you will need to complete a package of learning on literature and research searching. Derby University will accept a first class, 2:1 and 2:2. If you do not have a degree you will need to evidence study at level 6 or 7 in the last 5 years. Preferably Minimum of 1 years post registration experience Able to evidence professional development in your clinical area? Able to work effectively as a team member and independently, both within the practice setting and at University? Able to communicate effectively with children, young people and their families plus all statutory, voluntary and independent organisations. Ready to develop your clinical leadership skills to improve healthcare delivery? With a good knowledge of current national government policies and the ability to demonstrate their application to practice. Able to demonstrate your understanding of current practice and policy issues relating to your chosen area of practice? To work in collaboration with children, young people and their families, and all statutory, voluntary and independent organisations? Able to clearly demonstrate the ability to manage time and resources effectively in both university and practice settings. Successful candidates will be offered a place subject to funding from Health Education England. A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post; however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010. Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment. You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.
