Summary

SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: West Sussex (Crawley, Horsham, Worthing, and surrounding areas)

Pay: £90.00 - £95.00 per day

Contract: Full-Time / Long-Term

Working Hours: Monday - Friday (Term Time)

The Role

Are you passionate about making a real, lasting difference in the lives of young people with Special Educational Needs? We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join specialist educational teams across West Sussex.

This role is ideal for someone looking for stability and consistency, where you can build deep, meaningful relationships with pupils and see their progress over the course of the academic year. You will be a key figure in supporting pupils with a range of complex needs-including Autism (ASD), ADHD, and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs-to help them thrive both academically and socially.

Your Responsibilities

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide Dedicated Support: Work closely with a specific class or individual pupils to provide the stability they need to succeed.

  • Implement EHCPs: Work directly with Education, Health, and Care Plans to deliver tailored learning and development targets.

  • Behavioural Support: Use consistent strategies to manage challenging behaviour and promote positive emotional regulation.

  • Social & Life Skills: Support pupils' communication and independence, helping them navigate social interactions and daily routines.

  • Collaborate: Work as a vital part of a multidisciplinary team, including teachers, SENCOs, and external therapists.

  • Personal Care: Assist with personal care where required, ensuring the dignity and well-being of the pupils.

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking candidates in the West Sussex area who are:

  • Experienced: Previous experience supporting pupils with SEN (Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or MLD) is essential.

  • Committed: Looking for a consistent role where you can become an integral part of a school community.

  • Resilient & Patient: Able to remain calm under pressure and provide a steady, nurturing presence for students.

  • Strong Communicators: Able to build rapport quickly with children, staff, and parents alike.

  • Qualified: Ideally hold a Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or have significant equivalent experience.

Why Apply?
  • Competitive Pay: A reliable rate of £90.00 - £95.00 per day.

  • Career Growth: Opportunities for professional development and specialised SEN training within West Sussex schools.

  • Stability: A consistent Monday-Friday schedule during term time.

  • Rewarding Work: The chance to see the long-term impact of your support on a child's development.
