Summary
We are looking for a fully qualified, energetic, dynamic, enthusiastic consultant colleague to join the Nephrology and Kidney & Pancreas Transplant service and help to deliver high quality clinical care to its patients. The post provides an excellent balance of nephrology with acute transplant inpatient and outpatient care. The unit has a strong culture of close surgical and nephrological team working including combined ward rounds on the transplant unit and in the MDT support meetings. Associated with Manchester University and the medical school the unit has a strong research background and patients care is supported by a strong team including foundation doctors, renal specialist trainees, transplant surgical fellows, and advanced nurse practitioners to support inpatient and outpatient work. Being a large teaching hospital, the post offers teaching responsibilities and opportunities. There is a strong culture of support networks and mentorship for all new consultant colleagues including the NAC Newly appointed Consultant leadership course run by the Trust and supported by the Kings fund.
We are seeking an inspirational and aspirational consultant colleague to join a supportive Nephrology and allied Kidney & Pancreas Transplant surgical service to help deliver excellent high quality clinical care to its patients. The individual will have the opportunity to grow their own skills and expertise and develop areas of specialist interest. The individual will work closely with and communicate effectively together as a member of a unique team combining transplant nephrology, renal and transplant surgical clinicians for the benefit of patients.
The post offers a combination of acute inpatient and outpatient transplant and renal responsibilities. This includes ward rounds on the renal and transplant wards and support to outlying patients at Manchester Royal Infirmary. The appointed Consultant will strengthen and support an inpatient team consisting of foundation doctors, renal specialist trainees, transplant surgical fellows, and advanced clinical practitioners. Working in a large teaching hospital will allow the opportunity to support the development of trainees through teaching and mentoring, and the chance to lead teams in Quality improvement programmes and in learning from clinical outcomes to strengthen care.
The Outpatient opportunities will include provision of weekly Transplant clinics, opportunity for specialty transplant service and clinic development and general nephrology clinic responsibilities.
