Crynodeb

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our Programme Team and help deliver complex, high-profile change that will directly impact services, staff and residents. This is an opportunity to play a pivotal role in one of local governments most significant changes. As local government undergoes significant change through Local Government Reorganisation and devolution, Chelmsford is at the centre of that transformation.

As a Principal Project Manager, you will play a key role in Chelmsford City Council’s involvement in Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) and devolution programmes, as well as leading the delivery of complex digital projects. The successful applicant will manage multiple projects to time, budget and quality standards from inception to delivery, ensuring strong governance, effective change control and adherence to council policies. Additionally, representing the Council across programme workstreams, influencing senior stakeholders, helping shape new governance and service structures, championing agile delivery and project management best practice are key responsibilities of the position.

Proven experience of delivering complex projects with the ability to balance strategic priorities with hands-on delivery, clear communication and strong organisational skills are essential to being successful in this role. Applicants should have a strong knowledge of the software development lifecycle and excellent stakeholder management skills. Ideally, the successful applicant will hold a recognised project management qualification, but it is not an essential requirement.

Please note should sufficient applications be received prior to the closing date, we may close the role for applications early.

Chelmsford City Council is committed to safeguarding vulnerable groups and expects all employees to share this commitment and have a range of policies and procedures in place which promote safeguarding and safer working practices across our services. The Council's Safer Recruitment process contains pre-employment checks which includes safeguarding training, obtaining references and ensuring compliance with Disclosure and Barring Service process.
