I am working with a client who have an exciting opportunity for a Fabric Operative to join their facilities team at one of the hospitals in Oxford.
This is a permanent full-time position working 40 hours per week from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
The role:
- Reporting to the Operations Manager
- To apply trade skills and experience to ensure the satisfactory completion of allocated maintenance, breakdown repairs, installation, new and refurbishment works.
- Undertake or oversee all fabric works and elements of statutory compliance
- Carry out all fabric duties such as carpentry, painting & decorating, replacing ceiling tiles and laying carpet tiles
- To undertake PPM and reactive works to ensure that all jobs are completed
- To immediately report any potentially dangerous situations
- To order materials and services using ordering system and to update records and job sheets to certify satisfactory delivery/completion
- Carry out and record all required compliance checks such as Water Hygiene checks in accordance with ACOP L8 and Fire Door checks in accordance with BM TRADA and others
- To oversee specialist sub-contractors by escorting round the building and monitoring work
- Working 40 hours per week, from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday
What we need from you:
- Must hold a Fabric or Carpentry qualification to minimum NVQ Level 2 or equivalent and be able to carry out general fabric repairs (doors and panels)
- Will possess varied fabric skills, including fire doors checks/repairs, door panels/fire stopping repairs and shower accessory replacements
- Experience working in a healthcare environment is desirable
- Essential to have an understanding of Permit to Work and Safe Systems of Work
- Strong customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Good understanding of Health & Safety
- Understanding of the Maximo CAFM system is desirable
- Able to work on own initiative as well as within a team; proactive, flexible, can-do attitude
