Long Term Futures are recruiting a skilled and enthusiastic Performing Arts & Media Technical Assistant to support a busy secondary school environment, working across Performing Arts, Music and Media Studies.
This is a varied, hands-on technical role supporting performances, examinations, lessons and whole-school events. The successful candidate will work closely with teaching and technical staff to ensure high-quality delivery of productions, assessments and creative learning opportunities for students.
This role is well suited to someone with a background or strong interest in theatre technology, music technology, sound/lighting, or digital media, and offers excellent experience within an educational setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support lighting and sound setup for performances, exams, assemblies and events
- Assist with safe rigging, operation and maintenance of technical equipment
- Support students with technical elements of GCSE and A-Level coursework
- Assist with set design, build, props and costume organisation
- Support filming, recording and editing for performances and examinations
- Manage and maintain media, music and digital technology equipment
- Assist with music technology recording sessions during assessment periods
- Help maintain inventories and technical resources
- Support whole-school events and productions as required
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)
- Experience or background in performing arts technology, media, music tech or sound/lighting
- Strong ICT skills and confidence using creative software (video/audio editing)
- Ability to communicate effectively with young people and staff
- A proactive, organised and flexible approach
- Willingness to learn new technologies and technical skills
- Understanding of safeguarding and working in an education setting
- PASMA/IPAF certification, media software knowledge or driving licence (desirable)
