Shrewsbury School seeks to appoint a full-time teacher of Business and/or Economics to teach at A Level in one or both of these successful, supportive, and collaborative Faculties.
This role would be ideal for someone new to the profession (with or without formal qualifications) looking to gain initial experience, key skills and knowledge in one of the country’s leading boarding schools, or for an experienced teacher looking for their next challenge. Those new to the profession or in the early years of their career will benefit from extensive foundational training, and all teachers have access to personalised career development programmes.
The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the co-curricular and pastoral life of a thriving boarding school.
Business and Economics are two of the most popular A Level subjects at Shrewsbury School. They enjoy a strong reputation, with excellent Public Examination results, and a number of leavers each year going on to pursue Economics, Business, or related studies at university, including at top UK and international universities.
A full induction programme is provided for all new members of staff, in addition to a programme of continuous professional development. The salary for the post is competitive, and accommodation may be available. All new members of staff are issued with a touch screen laptop device to assist their teaching. Further benefits are listed in the recruitment pack.
For a full recruitment pack and application form, please visit www.shrewsbury.org.uk/page/job-vacancies alternatively, email recruitment@shrewsbury.org.uk or call the HR department on 01743 280834.
Closing date for applications is 10am, Monday 19th January 2026.
Interviews will be held the week commencing Monday 26th January 2026.
For an informal discussion about the role, please contact the Deputy Head (Academic), Mr Dan Reeve, via Ms Fliss Brewer: fbrewer@shrewsbury.org.uk
Shrewsbury School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
