Crynodeb
The Trust has two sites - Royal Stoke and County Hospital, with services for older adults provided on both sites. Royal Stoke site has four acute wards and an FEAU (Frail Elderly Assessment Unit) together with two step-down wards. County Site has one elderly care ward with plans to open a step-down ward. The Department has 8 substantive consultants at Royal Stoke and 1 substantive consultant at County and you will join a team of 3 other specialty doctors and 10 Trust Grade doctors, in addition to trainee doctors. The post holder may be required to rotate to County Hospital. The post holder will be part of a multidisciplinary team providing clinical care to older patients and will work with consultants, specialist registrars, Trust grades, foundation doctors, GP trainees and advanced nurse practitioners. The post holder will work on FEAU and elderly care wards, as well as providing a liaison service to other wards/departments and undertaking outpatient clinics. There will be a requirement to take part in weekend on-calls 1:6 weekends between 0900hrs-1700hrs, including bank holidays. University Hospital of North Staffordshire is the teaching Hospital for Keele University Medical School and the post holder will gain experience in teaching undergraduate medical school students as part of their job plan. The Department has a strong emphasis on teaching and training and professional development and has weekly departmental educational meetings, audits, mortality meetings and also Hospital Grand rounds.
