Your clinical insight will support fair, lawful, and rigorous decision-making, ensuring that statutory criteria are properly applied and that individuals rights are safeguarded. The panel comprises of a legally qualified Chair a medical member and lay members. This position provides an excellent career development opportunity allowing you to broaden your experience and continue growing your skills in a role where your expertise truly contributes. Our Medical Members usually take part in around twenty-five hearings each year where remote working arrangements are possible. Hearings are remunerated at a half-day rate of £400 for 3.5 hours, while the pre-hearing examinations where required typically lasting around one hour is paid at £201, with reasonable expenses also reimbursed. Together, these elements create a role that offers both meaningful contribution and professional enrichment. Applicants must be fully registered with the General Medical Council, and meet one of the following requirements be a member or fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists be a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners on the National Performers List with including substantial experience in the diagnosis or treatment of mental disorder and at least four months in a supervised psychiatric training post recognised by the Royal College of Psychiatrists or have a minimum of three years full-time experience in a psychiatric training post or non-consultant career grade post with substantial experience in the diagnosis or treatment of mental disorder.
