Role Description
This part-time role as a Home Help Support Worker is based on-site in and around Okehampton and its surrounding villages. The role is varied and may involve assisting clients with various day-to-day tasks to enable them to live independently, or promoting their independence by practicing life skills like cooking or catching public transport with them, it may include household cleaning, laundry, meal preparation, shopping, or running errands, reconnecting people with the local community by bringing them to coffee mornings or to classes or groups. You may also provide companionship or respite assistance, you may be required to accompany clients to appointments or social outings. Flexibility and adaptability are key, as the role allows you to work with clients on a regular basis, picking days and times which suit you to form a regular routine for the clients you support, creating meaningful impact in their lives.
Qualifications
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide companionship and support to clients
Ability to manage errands, shopping, and assist clients with appointments
Previous experience in caregiving or domestic support is advantageous
Valid DBS check, reliable transportation, and a valid driver’s license essential
Empathy, patience, and a commitment to improving the lives of others
Flexibility to work part-time shifts and adapt to individual client needs
Strong organisational and household management skills, including cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation
Currently 6 hours available on Mondays or Tuesdays each fortnight and 1.5hrs fortnightly ideally Mondays. More hours can be sought out if candidate wishes for more clients. Candidate must be happy to travel to Northlew, Belstone and other surrounding villages this is essential due to client locations.
