Hays Education are working with a school based in Southport to recruit a Food Technician. This job is part-time for 3/4 days per week.
Your new role
Starting asap, this Food Technician job will be ongoing, potentially until the end of the academic year. You will be working closely with the Food Technician teacher to provide support ensuring the smooth running of Food Technology lessons.
Daily duties will include:
- Stock-taking and ordering of materials, ingredients and equipment
- Photocopying/ typing as needed for the department
- Preparing materials prior to lessons following school lesson plans
- Providing support for the teacher during practical lessons
- Clearing up and cleaning down the equipment after lessons
- Following health and safety guidelines while working with all equipment in the classroom and stockrooms etc
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this Food Technician role, you will have relevant experience or qualifications within Food Technology that can be referenced (ideally within the last 2 years). You will possess excellent knowledge of the safe use of tools/equipment found in a food technology workshop, and of food hygiene standards. This role will need you to be well-organised, with good IT and time management skills. Since you will provide practical support during lessons, you will also be comfortable working with and using equipment around children, and have an ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships when supporting them in their lessons.
