Role: HGV Driver (Class 1)
Site Location: Blackburn
Travel to locations: Merseyside, West Lancashire, West Yorkshire, North Wales
Working hours: Monday to Thursday (5am – 3pm), Friday (5am – 2pm)
Vehicle: Class 1 arctic, with Moffett (primarily), 26 tonne rigid (adhoc)
Pay: £15.00 per hour, weekly pay every Friday for previous weeks hours
Term: 12-week temp to perm role, within an established (national) stable business
*Additional hours may be required in peak periods, however on average hours worked are 44 paid hours per week (no weekend working, no overnight work, no tramping).*
Role purpose: Delivering and collecting containers / material from supplier and customer sites, ensuring containers and vehicles are roadworthy and secure.
Responsibilities of the role:
• To perform all daily and weekly checks on all vehicles, trailers, and containers.
• To comply with all company Safe Systems of Work (SSW’s) and Risk Assessments (RA’s).
• To safely deliver and collect containers/material from supplier and customer sites, ensuring containers and vehicles are roadworthy and secure.
• To safely discharge material from containers/vehicles.
• To comply with all legislation regarding working hours in compliance with Tachograph Laws, including downloading of Digital Cards on a regular basis.
• To drive in a safe manner within the speed limits, taking in to account the road conditions and other road users.
• To report any damage and/or breakdown of equipment to the Operations Manager in a timely manner ensuring all Defect Books are completed.
• To report any damaged containers to the Operations Manager and ensure these are sited in the allocated area for repairs to be undertaken.
• To comply with all health and safety requirements, ensuring all colleagues and visitors operate in a safe manner whilst on site, and highlight any issues to the Production Manager or General Manager in a timely manner.
• To interact with all colleagues, visitors, suppliers and customers in a professional and courteous manner.
• A flexible approach to working patterns and start times as dictated by the needs of the business.
• To undertake other reasonable requests not outlined above.
Key requirements:
• LGV licence
• Possess a Digital Tachograph Card and DCPC Card
• Have no more than 6 points on your license (no DR DG DD or IN codes)
Personal profile:
• Customer facing awareness.
• Good timekeeping and able to work unsupervised.
• Enthusiastic and reliable with a commitment to delivering 1st class customer service.
• Must have good communication skills and a flexible can-do attitude to work.
