Job responsibilities To provide Consultant HPB services at the University Hospitals of Leicester, covering major liver and pancreatic resection and supporting the NET service (including the NET MDT) To ensure the provision of good standards of practice and care, as prescribed in GMC Guidance Duties of a Doctor, at all times; and ensuring that bad practice is reported, as appropriate. To ensure that clinical practice is both effective and efficient and that appropriate monitoring of clinical care takes place. To co-operate in ensuring that services deliver national targets and the local agenda and that the contract is achieved within budget. The Consultant has a continuing responsibility for the care of the patients in their charge and for the proper organization and functioning of their clinical practice. To achieve this, the post holder will liaise closely with other specialties, departments and outside agencies in contributing to the objectives of the department, CMG & Trust. To take responsibility for ensuring that critical clinical incidents, as defined in the Trusts Critical Incident Policy, are reported either to the Head of Service or Clinical Director or the Medical Director in a timely manner. To actively participate in audits. To participate in yearly appraisal and the job planning process. To undertake Mandatory & Statutory training as determined by the Trust and Clinical Business Unit To provide educational supervision
