This post holder will work as senior member of the Critical Care team, providing support and specialist advice for level 2 and level 3 patients in conjunction with effective leadership of the critical care team. This will be achieved by delivering and ensuring the provision of high quality, safe and effective care.

To act as a team leader to maintain a high standard of quality care and co-ordinate the operational activities during a span of duty.

To make the best use of resources within critical care and develop good practice maintaining high standards of patient care.

They will ensure that they contribute to the senior team, by demonstrating effective leadership and management so that safe, high quality, evidence-based nursing care is delivered to patients whilst respecting and involving families and carers as partners in care.



Provide clinical expertise within critical care and ensure high standards of patient care are delivered providing team members with supports, encouragement, training and become effective safe practitioners working a complex multi-agency environment

Actively contribute to the overall department objectives by being a visible leader and supporting the senior nursing team within critical care.

Ensure safe and adequate workforce delivery under the supervision of the ward manager.

Demonstrate compliance with trust policy and delivery of guidelines in practice.

Ensure appropriate escalation of concerns so they can be manged safely and quickly.

Deputise for the Clinical Shift Lead/ Ward Manager

Assist in preventing and controlling infection control and ensuring policy is adhered to within the department.

Ensure safety is maintained and appropriate utilising advanced knowledge and skill of the critically ill patient.

Enhanced Critical Care Nurse, to join the critical care senior nursing team. This is an opportunity for a highly skilled nurse to join the senior team to ensure clinical expertise and visible leadership is delivered within the department to ensure high quality and safe patient care is achieved. The post holder will utilise their extensive experience and knowledge to ensure departmental aims and objects are achieved, whilst also ensuring specialist care for level 2 and level 3 patients is delivered. They will deputise for the clinical shift lead when required and will coordinate patient flow efficiently within the department and escalate as per policy and guideline. They will work with the team to ensure policy, standards and performance is maintained whilst supporting staff development, quality improvement delivery and safety within the department.
