Here is an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Charge Nurse.
You will adhere to NMC Code of Practice at all times and ensure departmental compliance with, and application of, hospital policies and procedures.Assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of Governance systems in the department relating to Risk Management, Health and Safety and Controls Assurance.
In conjunction with the Ophthalmology Unit Manager, Ophthalmic Matron and Multidisciplinary Team, you will lead and co-ordinate a dedicated team of nursing and support staff to ensure the delivery of a high standard of nursing care across the department including off site service at Tyler’s Ride South Woodham Ferrers.
Strong, professional leadership qualities are needed at this level to deliver high quality of care, staff morale and the learning environment.You are expected to be flexible with roster to meet service needs and expected to be part in the on-call rota.

Within your role, you will:
- Support audit and performance monitoring activities.
- Work with the Ophthalmology Manager/Matron to ensure risk assessments are completed and action plans implemented.Maintain compliance with Health & Safety policies.
- Assist the department manager in preparing accurate duty rosters for effective staffing and skill mix.Identify and promote learning opportunities for all team members.
- Ensure clear and effective communication within the team and across Ophthalmology MSE and MDT.
- Participate in the on-call rota, including evenings and weekends.
- Provide visible leadership, offering advice and support to patients, carers, and staff, using counselling skills where appropriate.Uphold strict confidentiality and information security at all times.
